Lets FRAP It!!!

Well you played the game,now you want others to have a look at your skills.Not To Worry!!!! We have Fraps to aid you in capturing those priceless moments .Fraps lets you capture real-time in-game videos .It supports various directx and opengl compatible games .The versions I tested were v1.9, v2.21, v2.82.

HOW DO I RUN IT?

Start the Fraps (either form the short-cut placed on desktop or from C:/FRAPS/fraps.exe).It runs in the background.If necessary adjust the settings.Start the game.Whenever you want to start using fraps use the appropriate Hot Key.All of them offer you in-game screenshot capture feature.Version 2.82 is more sleek and having a better appearence.As soon as you start the program,an icon runs on the taskbar.There are options for settings as well as viewing the captured movies and screenshots.In the settings option you can set your own HOT-keys .These hot-keys are used to activate the program when a game is running.

Default Hot-Keys:-

F9—–Video Capture
F10—-Image Capture
F11—-Overlay Mode Display
F12—-Benchmark toggle

For captured images you have choice between JPG,BMP,PNG,TGA formats.However the videos can be stored only in .avi format.also the Videos are so huge in size for eg: a 2min video occupies over 1GB+ space.Now thats a strict no-no for guys like me with limited disc space.

Versions 1.9 ,2.21 were not as good looking, but the features are very much the same.Also a thing I didnt like about of them was that the frame-rate was being displayed as a water-mark over the video, which ruins the show.Maybe I didnt get to know how to remove that,If some one knows please feel free to comment.

Thumbs Up: Well now you can save that unique stunt you performed or maybe a secret place you dicovered in the game,or maybe create a walkthrough for that Tough Mission you just cleared.

Thumbs Down: No choice for video extensions other than .AVI, Water-mark of the Frame-rate remains on the clip.
