Picasa: One Stop Image Viewer

I went on and on……The day was special for all the students studying at the last year of our college(Hey! people I am talking of my diploma last year). It was the day on which we were officially told to “get out of the college” by the college authorities. It was the “Send off” day. I had just brought a new digital camera and as if there was no tomorrow, I clicked my way out of college(much to the dismay of all the girls in college!!).

Then came the obvious question “what to do with all the pictures?”.I knew it would be painful to give the pics to all the friends one at a time. Then the concept of picture sharing on the internet was new to me. I decided to try it myself.

Then I came across the software called Picasa. At first,I thought it was a new paint application which Bill Gates thought would revolutionize painting on the internet,but it was the smart application developed by the people at Google. and then by using it, i came to know how useful a tool it can be.

At a glance, Picasa looks like a photoshop application with very less editing features and more managing features. But I am sure it is much easier than that. Initially when the software loads,it sorts all the images in the hard-disk according to its type and the date when it was stored on the disk. Thus making it simple to search the pics you want to share. Picasa allows one to select a particular image and send the images to someone’s Email Id directly.Google,the creators of this wonderful software,also allows user to upload the images to their server so that everyone can view it at the confort of their home using the “Web Album” option. All you need is the account in Google Mail. One can also create a photo album comprising of some very special moments caught on camara and share them with others. There is also option to directly transfer the images in a digital camera to the photo album using “IMPORT” option. One can also create a screen-saver and movies from the images in the album!!!

Sigh!!The features on this software never ends.I can write on and on about how good this software is.You have to check it out yourself to see the magic!.
